Add a Person to a Photo

Someone is always missing from the group photo: the person holding the camera, the friend who arrived late, the brother who could not make the trip. Upload the group photo and a photo of that person, and you get back one photo with them standing with everyone else, in the same light, scale and color.

How to add a person to a photo

To begin, choose the group photo you want to add someone to: a family photo, a trip, a wedding or a party.

Then, add a clear photo of the person who is missing. A selfie or a casual phone photo is fine.

Finally, press the button. In about a minute you get one new photo with everyone in it, ready to download, print or share.

Tips for the most natural result

  • Use a photo of the person where the face is sharp and well lit, ideally facing the camera from roughly the same height as the group photo.
  • Pick a group photo with a little room at one side or between two people, so there is a natural place to stand.
  • Similar light helps: an outdoor daylight photo of the person blends best into an outdoor group photo.
  • A waist-up or full-body photo of the person gives the AI more to work with than a tight face crop.
  • If the first result is not right, try another photo of the person. A different angle often looks more natural.

What people use it for

  • Adding the photographer to the group photo they took.
  • A relative who missed the family reunion, the holiday dinner or the barbecue.
  • A bridesmaid or groomsman who missed the wedding party shoot.
  • A friend who could not come on the trip, added to the photo at the viewpoint.
  • A team or class photo with someone who was off sick that day.

Why the result looks like one real photo

The people already in your photo keep their faces, clothes and poses, and the background stays as it was. The added person is placed beside the others at the right size for where they stand, with a pose and clothing that fit the scene, and with the same light direction, shadows, color, sharpness and grain as the original.

It is not a collage or a cut-out pasted on top: the AI redraws the person into the scene, so edges, shadows and perspective match the rest of the picture.

Your photos are safe with us

The photos you upload are only used to make your picture, are never shown to anyone else and are deleted automatically 24 hours after upload. Your finished photo stays private in your account until you delete it. Photos of public figures and explicit content are refused automatically.

Questions

  • Upload two photos: the group photo, and a clear photo of the person you want to add. Press the button, and in about a minute you get one new photo with that person standing or sitting naturally with the others, in matching light, scale and color.

  • Upload the existing photo as photo 1 and a photo of the person as photo 2. The tool places them into the existing photo and matches the light and perspective, so you do not have to cut anything out or blend edges yourself. Your first photo is free after signing up.

  • Yes, your first photo is free when you create an account, with no watermark and no card needed. After that, photos cost from about 50 cents each in one-time packs.

  • It is told to keep every existing person, face and pose exactly as they are, and it usually does. If anyone’s face does come out changed, email us and we will redo that photo once for free.

  • Your first photo is free when you create an account (one free photo per person and network every 30 days). After that, photos come in one-time packs: 5 photos for $4.99, 15 for $9.99 or 40 for $19.99. One credit is one photo, credits never expire, and there is no subscription. You can also buy a pack without creating an account.

  • Yes. It works in the browser on iPhone, Android, tablets and computers. Pick both photos from your camera roll and save the result straight back to your phone; nothing to install.

  • No. You download the full photo without a watermark, including the free one, ready to print or share.

  • Please only use photos of yourself, your family and friends, or people who agreed to it. Photos of celebrities or other public figures, and photos with nudity or violence, are refused automatically and you are not charged.

  • The photos you upload are only used to make your picture and are deleted automatically 24 hours after upload. The finished photo is kept privately in your account so you can download it again, until you delete it with your account (Settings → Security → Delete account, which removes your photos right away) or ask us at hello@addpersontophoto.org. Photos are never shown to other visitors, sold or used to train AI.

  • If a photo fails or times out, its credit goes back to your balance automatically. If the photo is made but the AI changed someone’s face so they no longer look like themselves, email hello@addpersontophoto.org from the address on your account (or with your order receipt) and we will give you one free redo of that photo. A sharper photo where the face is large usually gives a closer likeness.
